In institutional architecture, power is embodied. A courthouse is a representation of it. In terms of symbols and character, the image of public institutions has an heritage of signs that cannot be shaken up without risk. The architecture proposed here is a reinterpretation of this heritage. From the most distant vision of the city, the bay, the square, to the details of the interior spaces and although the facade, the project creates a dialogue between justice and the city. This essay on architectural composition, as a transition from the meaning of words to signs built around the notions of correctness, equity, balance, dignity, brings together a contemporary vision of the institution. A rigorous structure with a formal vocabulary of permanence, transparency and reflection appear to be the components of the necessary openness and impartiality of justice.
