The region of Naples have been suffering from a waste crisis for years. The collect of refuse in town is broken up. The wastes are piling up along the streets and the danger of a sanitary crisis linger. This wastes crisis also generated some new illegal businesses that consist in extorting some pieces of land in order to use them as garbage dump for money or the transportation and exportation of wastes into foreigner countries. For a few years now, the city have developed some brand new programs to face this situation of clandestine burying.
This project exist within this dynamic and brings a solution for the waste processing. This building is in some ways similar to the design of a machine in its industrial landscape. Its strong forms are assumed witch gives it the aspect of a new totem for the city, symbolizing this new area wiping out the crises and the illegal activities linked to the wastes in Naples.
It is composed of two functional wings, each dedicated to a program of waste processing: sorting and incineration.
The all is joint by a common building gathering collective functions. The interweaving of these three volumes allows to create a building as functional as fluid that always keep the control of its shape.
